one saving grace in drag-on dragoon is the story telling style of the game.. the game is split up into chapters and within each chapter each part of the story is called a verse.. some are ground battles, dragon battles, movies, or events.. nothing too different.. you can view any movie within the game you wish easily enough..

the neat part is that if you beat some stages underneath a certain time limit you can split the story of the game.. have your character do something else rather than the regular story in that specific timeframe.. this is how you achieve different endings..

in the beginning of the game its not so useful.. all you do is meet allies who have also made blood-pacts.. thats why i didn't get it a second thought.. in the beginning i thought they were just side quests.. nothing to do with the actual story of the game..

later on the timeline splitting becomes more diverse, and other splits come back together to the same ending.. i only got one ending before i had to return it this morning..

since none of you really give two shits about this game.. and hell neither do i, you probably won't mind if i spoil the story just a little bit..

the main villian in this game is the leader of the empire.. which is some force of evil that has occupied a little girls body. so when she speaks her voice goes back and forth between a 'cute' innocent voice and a deep dark evil force..

the game's endings climax's when the last seal is broken.. the seal is the main character's sister, so when she's killed the seal is broken.. she is killed in the center of the sky fortress with manah, the little girl empire leader, in the room..

one of the timeline tracks gets to this point, with the main character showing up too late on the balcony of the room.. you look down and your sister is dead.. another timeline track comes to the same point except i come into the room before she's killed to see how it happens before my eyes.. and then after she dies, the two timeline join together and you get that specific ending... the sad ending..

so i finished those two tracks.. before the second track joins the sad ending, you can split it again by finding manah in the fortress labyrinth rather than reaching the center to your sister.. now instead of seeing your sister's death and then fighting manah, that giant golem ally of yours completely flattens her..

she's standing on this little alter in a corner of the labyrinth, the golen walks up and punches her into the ground.. splat..

and then... it turns out that she's a link between the humans and the gods, and now that link is broken.. so the gods begin to invade the earth.. all of a sudden.. the clouds open and huge giant babies come flying down from the sky.. huge infact babies start pooring out of the reddened sky.. what in the silly fuck..

and then in the next level you fly around with your dragon killing these babies.. and they don't like dying.. as they go down they cry and their faces distort, "wahhhhuuhhhh....." but there's hundreds of these babies.. i can only kill about 10 or 12 of 'em before they take me down..

god i hate the gameplay when you're flying the dragon... and every boss you ever fight in the game is with the dragon too.. when you fight manah in the sad ending she grows into a giant allah power rangers for some reason.. it took me a number of times fighting her to finally kill her.. i found out that flying around in a circle while dashing forward and then only firing once i face the target works for the most part..

anywho.. i had to return it to blockbuster this morning ... another day with the game probably would have rounded it out.. which sucks.. i might rent it again to finish it off and see how much the story splits, joins and ends.. i only got one of the 5 totals endings in the game.. there's one part of the story i hadn't split yet, plus i haven't beaten the babies..

the story probably splits again after the babies resulting in two ending in that direction.. and the other part earlier in the game i didn't split in, probably splits again resulting in the other two endings.. hopefully it splits and joins more than that for a little interest..

plus i've only uncovered about 20% of all the weapons in the game.. i found an 8 foot long berserk style sword in the game.. great for taking out 20 enemies at once when they crowd you.. with the square button of course..
