Sasha

man, yet another excellent weekend in chicago.. complete with another 'deadly' car accident. on the way out of rockford. two cars had collided with much force. as i passed to get onto i-90, they went carting someone on a stretcher to the ambulance, and another lifeless person was in a car with his head tilted back who seemed to be in a lot of pain.. these two cars were smashed and destroyed. the pavement was coated with engine coolant. it wasn't a great site.

my destination in rockford this weekend was Clyde's comics and fantasy in search of the remaining The Maxx comics to my collection, and i was very successful. i had found 3 of the 4 missing issues in my collection, the only issue that remains is #28, so if any of you happen to see it around some comic book shop, think of me ^_^. finding these Maxx comics have been interesting, usually you'd think it would be more difficult to find the first couple of issues, but in actuality i have had much more trouble finding the upper 20s from the second half of the series, than the first half. maybe its like this for all comics and i'm just a novice, though. eh...

my comic search continued in chicago, but ended back in rockford. for some reason, its like all commericial businesses close at 8pm in that town, i don't quite get it. the Comix Revolution store was pretty slick though. it must have the same ownership as hot topic, because alot of the same clothes and merchandise can be found there. anywho..

i also went to mitsuwa again, and forgot anything about buying spamm game prizes. oops. i had a big bowl of ramen at the noodle house though ^_^. i had the wafu ramen at the surugaji noodle house. i wanted to see what ramen was actually supposed to taste like, so apparent ramen is supposed to taste exactly like the instant stuff. the only noticable difference between this ramen and the instant stuff was the fish cake and beef chunks, plus the bean sprouts added ontop. hurrah for garnish. compared with the instant stuff i have eaten already i give it a 3 1/2 out of 5 japanese stars.. kinda weird, eh? maybe the other ramen they have there is better .. though i think it'll be a long time before i return to chicago..

after mitsuwa and looking for the other comic book shops, i had no where else to go BUT spundae, so i sat around the parking garage reading my purchased comics, and then i texted kristina back and forth for a little while and then proceeded to the club.

uh my fucking god, i thought i was going to die .. 4 fucking hours of shitting chicago house music. i couldn't take it, i seriously could NOT take it. i didn't know how i was going to make it to 2 am for Sasha until around 1pm Harry "choo choo" romero played the most god awful house track i've ever heard before ... "This beat's all over my body".. i just about died laughing. suddenly my death from shitty music, was now death from laughter. i mean, this guy came all the way from new york to promote his new artist cd, and he plays, "this beat's all over my body".. oh my god.. this completely revitalized my eyes for the proceeding hour of shitting music to sasha.

and sasha? .. Sasha was amazing, though not exactly what i expected. instead of playing the melodic beautiful harmonies that always stick with me, he played a more breaky style in tune with what i've heard of him w/ james zabiela. perhaps this was because he was in chicago, and the people there love shitty house music, he decided to play something with a lot of beats. oh well, it was still amazing ^_^.

besides "this beat's all over my body" i recognized one other track, and that was sasha's second encore, unkle's in the state (sasha remix).. a very catchy break track. sadly shpongle's dorcet perseption was not played, like he would have anyhow..

the night was most fun ^_^. i noticed mr. squirrel and princess rocking out to the sasha and i also met up with andy and kristen who said they were going to be there ^_^. this was their first time in the glorious spundae club. and also on the way out i was approached by another trance addict, dj2tka or tom, whom i talked with for a little while on the way to the parking garage. his lucky ass got his xpander ep vinyl signed, which i got a picture of the act ^_^.

once again, another great chicago weekend. the next attempt at chicago may be April 17th for paul van dyk. though, visions was very full for sasha and i found it somewhat annoying trying to move around the club. paul van dyk will fill the place to full capcity without a problem. this might make it too annoying to rock out and take pictures. though i'd be there for pvd @ spundae, and then the night after it's pvd @ the rave in millwaukee. thats a crazy amount of pvd. i don't think my wallet can withstand this kind of roadtrip though. i'd end up spending WAY too much.
