Minnesota State Capitol

Over the summer, when I was visiting Minnesota, my sister took me to the state capitol, which I had not visited since childhood. While living in Madison, Wisconsin, I lived near that state capitol and often went by it or inside. I have the layout of that capitol memorized, so it was interesting visiting another state capitol to compare layouts.

Even though, I think the octogonal layout of the Madison capitol is unique, the features of the St. Paul capitol are still pretty similar with an open hollow area in the middle and each branch of the government splitting off from there.

In front of the congressional hall were several signs, flowers, and cards paying their respects to Melissa Hortman. She was the Democratic speaker of the house and was assassinated on June 14th, 2025. Because of the political divide in America, no one seemed to care at all. And at this point, I don't think anyone remembers her name without looking it up.

My sister, nieces, and I walked around the capitol as I took a bunch of photos. You can see them below.
