In Den Den Town, at the end of the street, is Tsutenkaku Tower, otherwise known as Osaka Tower. It's a very characteristic landmark of Osaka with its brilliant neons lights seen from anywhere in town after you get up past the 5th floor on a building.
The current tower is the second version. The original tower was built in 1912 to mimic the Eiffel Tower in Paris. It was destroyed in World War II by fire bombings. After the war, citizens lobbied to have the tower rebuilt and the Tsutenkaku Kanko Company was established to rebuild the tower and encourage tourism. It opened in 1956, and their efforts gave Tokyo the inspiration to begin building Tokyo Tower the next year.
The tower is best viewed at night, which is when my brother and I visited it after a long day of many other tourist attractions. Below are some photos.
