Himeji Castle is the most beautiful, largest, and well-known castle in Japan. It is often used as an example for people describing Japanese castle. It is located in Hyogo Prefecture, west of Kobe and Osaka. My brother and I visited the castle on our trip to Japan in June 2011. Unfortunately, it was under renovations at the time, so we couldn't see its beautiful exterior.
