Momoyama Castle 桃山城

The Momoyama Castle, or Fushimi-Momoyama Castle was yet another castle on our list of places to visit while vacationing in Osaka. And this was the oddest one we had visited yet.

I mentioned before of 3 different types of castles available to view today in Japan. Ones with the original floorplan and materials intact. Ones completely gutted and replaced with a modern building on the inside, with the original facade on the outside. And ones with that land in between, with parts replaced for modern convenience, but not solely rebuilt.

At the time of our visit, the Momoyama Castle ended up being in a fourth category where it wasn't open the public, and it seemed like much of the inside space was used to store tools, equipment, and other gear for the upkeep of the outside gardens and occasional festivals. I'm not sure what the inside actually looked like, but it felt more like a garage.

We took some photos and then moved on to our next location.
