Mt. Norikura in eastern Takayama is the most recognizable and visible mountain in all of Takayama. With the exception of some of the deeper valleys, you can see Norikura from almost anywhere. In particular, Asahi Village 朝日村, one of the eastern villages of Takayama, has an observation point all its main road giving a great view of Norikura towering over the neighborhoods.
It was a very clear and sunny day on my way back from running a marathon in Nagano prefecture, so I stopped to take some photos.
