Switch Aluminum Back Plate Mod

With confidence from doing a Playstation Controller mod, I decided to do another console mod, replacing the back panel of my Nintendo Switch with an Aluminum shell. This not only gives the back of the Switch more protection, but the main purpose of the mod is to have the shell act as a heat sink for the main processor.

When installing the mod, you can insert a thermal pad above the CPU and connect it to the shell. The shell then absorbs much of the heat coming from the CPU and because the back plate is such a large surface, it can cool easily. This results in some slight temperature drops in the CPU allowing it to last longer and perform better.

I streamed myself doing this mod, so here's the recording.

The mod was very easy to do and the results look great. There are some detailed photos below.
